How does PDFShift counts credits ?

You might have noticed that our plans don't count "per documents" but per credits.

The reason is simple is aligned with CPU usage: Generating a big document will be more resource intensive than a small one, so we applied this logic to the pricing.

For this reason, we consider one credit to represent a conversion of under 5Mb.

When you generate a document, we take the generated filesize in Mb, and divide it by 5 (rounded to the highest number).

This will gives us the credits used for your conversion.

For example:

  • A 4Mb document will count as 1 credit

  • A 23Mb document will count as 5 credits (23 / 5)

In the event your current plan is a bit short for your usage, but you don't want to upgrade to the next plan, you can always enable our Overage. Everything is explained here.
